Boilermaker Revises COVID Attendance Policy – Oneida Dispatch

UTICA, NY – Boilermaker officials have announced the lifting of COVID restrictions for participation in the Boilermaker 15K presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, 5K presented by Utica National and the 15K Wheelchair Race presented by Sitrin and NBT Bank on July 10, 2022.

As a result of these changes, participants will no longer need to present proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test prior to race day.

“We have been closely monitoring the evolution of COVID-19 since February 2020 and our priority has always been the safety of our attendees, staff, volunteers and community,” said Boilermaker President Mark Donovan. . “When we opened registration in March, our policy was consistent with what had become standard for events of all sizes and all city and state guidelines. Soon after, that norm changed and we saw large-scale events taking place safely without any restrictions at local, regional and national levels.

For those not comfortable participating in person, the “Home-Edition” (virtual) option of the Boilermaker 15K or 5K race is available. The “Home-Edition” allows participants to follow a 15K or 5K course of their choice between July 1 and noon on July 10, 2022 and receive their pint and their medal or finisher pin by post.

“In the interest of public health, we continue to encourage everyone to follow standard COVID precautions at this year’s Boilermaker events,” Donovan said. “In addition, we will continue to assess public health conditions, government actions and guidelines and issue policy revisions should they become necessary.”
