CMA issues health insurance policy for visitors | Oman time

In order to provide insurance coverage to visitors passing through the various border crossing points of the Sultanate of Oman, the Capital Market Authority has issued a form of health insurance for visitors, including basic processing services in case the visitor is exposed to risks or injuries. in Omani territories.

The issuance of the policy is part of ongoing efforts to regulate the health insurance market in the Sultanate of Oman, promote and regulate insurance products that meet the needs of the local market which reflects the efforts of the CMA to develop the performance of the insurance sector in line with the strategy it seeks to achieve during the period 2021-2025 in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040 to support welfare, social protection and care health of residents and visitors of the highest quality.

The policy will also play an important role in modernizing local tourism services and making the Sultanate of Oman a tourist destination that protects tourists from the perils they may face while visiting the governorates and Wilayats. It helps to regulate the insurance relationship between the insured visitor, insurance companies and private healthcare establishments. In addition, it guarantees the provision of appropriate health care to each visitor during the specified period of their stay.

The policy is flexible in terms of the ease of obtaining insurance coverage for basic treatment services which are available on the websites of insurance companies operating in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the coverages and additional benefits that visitors can add according to their needs. The policy also includes in the general provisions several clauses which ensure that visitors obtain basic insurance cover from insurance companies so that the insured’s insurance cover coincides with the duration of the visit. It also specifies the basic insurance coverages that must be available to visitors, such as hospitalization, emergency services and transportation of the corpse of the deceased visitor to the country of origin. It also identifies exclusions.

It should be noted that the form of health insurance policy for visitors is a continuation of the final stages of efforts to prepare the regulatory infrastructure necessary for the implementation of the health insurance system for employees of the private sector, expatriates residing in the Sultanate and visitors.
