JAMMU, March 12: The J&K Coordinating Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) today strongly demanded the formulation of a pay and regularization policy for all temporary workers in Jammu and Kashmir.
At the 4th J&K UT Level Conference of JKCCTU held here today, members passed resolutions projecting their demands. They expressed their grave concern over the neoliberal and anti-people and working-class economic policies of the central government and the UT administration, which have led to alarming unemployment, an uncontrolled rise in the prices of fuel and other base, to serious attacks on the security of the people of this country.
The speakers demanded the formulation of regularization, salary policy for all types of temporary workers including casual, contract, Anganwadi, Asha and others and increase their salaries to Rs 21,000 per month; restoring the old pension scheme, abolishing the PFRDA and guaranteeing a pension to all workers after reaching 5 years of service, stopping the outsourcing and casualization of jobs, guaranteeing democratic, trade union, labor and service rights to employees and workers, stop the misuse of Section 311, stop privatization of the electricity sector, implement SROs 59 and 149, release wages and arrears for Anganwadi workers and aides, and strengthen the public distribution system.
