Telangana government today protests against the Centre’s ‘discriminatory’ paddy supply policy

New Delhi [India]April 11 (ANI): To mark a protest against the Centre’s discriminatory paddy supply policy, the Telangana government announced the organization of Dharna in Delhi on Monday morning.
Telangana government officials, TRS party MPs, MLCs, MPs and local government and rural MPs will join the protest against the unity government.
The Telangana government will sit on a one-day dharna on April 11 in Delhi to stage a protest against the Union government’s discriminatory paddy supply policy which is impacting 61 lakh farmers and their families.
The venue for the protest, Telangana Bhavan, is being set up for the massive protest in Delhi and the ruling party in Telangana says the Center is not buying paddy from farmers in Telangana.
Recently, TRS workers blocked four national highways in Telangana to pressure their demand for a “one-size-fits-all” sourcing policy across the country. The party decided to demonstrate in Delhi in its attempt to raise the issue nationally.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, TRS MLC K Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, said the country’s food security would be at risk if there was no “supply policy”. uniform” by the Centre.
On March 24, the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, assured farmers in Telangana that there was absolutely no discrimination between farmers from different states and added that some politicians in Telangana were misleading farmers in the state.
The Telangana government pressured the Center to purchase all the paddy produced in the state. Last year, a delegation of state ministers even met with union ministers to make a clear announcement on the supply of paddy, including the quantity. (ANI)
